You would also have to change the engine harness and the computer, also, at a minimum.

You actually have a 4.6L and you will need to get that stuff from a donor truck at a local salvage yard.

you actually only need the motor, i used the 4.6l manifolds, and intake downtube so the EGR would work. im still running the coil pack ignition with a 4.6l comptuer tune. works decent enough...just not maximum... i think i ran a 16.4 1/4 mile with it here recently... i think with my current custom tuning ive done and swaped my Micky Thompsons for some AT/s for the summer i could actually break into the 15's in the 1/4 mile

you do have to widen your y pipe, and make some custom brackets for your coil packs if you decide to use your computer, ecm, and wire harnes... its really easy, and i could post some picks if you wanted. its not a bad swap at all, well worth it. aside of needing a good tuner to get optimal performace.

Here in the midwest theres not as many tuners...

No, his 4.6 is a coil pack ignition system, the 5.4 is a COP system. That means the harness and computer need to come along for the swap.

lol, i did the swap, i now have a 5.4l and it works fine. just needs a retune... if he has the harness and ecm great, but its still going to need to go to ford to have the PATS redone....

SOOOOO....what im saying is that if he wants to swap the engine make more power and not have to have the computer retuned, just swap the motor and reuse the 4.6l ignition system.

Yep you can use the "older" ignition that is stock. Beat me to the exhaust width. Jasper as well as many other engine builders have engines for sale with warranties, as does Ford.

Do you have a stick or manual tranny?

You also want a '99+ 5.4L they will have around 30 more HP due to the improved heads/intake but there may be a few sensors in the newer engine that will not have anywhere to plug into or just need to be plugged up.

the only sensor or what ever that doesnt have a home with the 5.4l is the variable volume intake underneath aluminum intake.....
