wont start
hey my 1984 f150xlt wont start anymore. It sat for a bout a week and it wont start, it just keeps crankin, i threw some gas in the carb nd it fired right up n turn off.. what should i bee looken for ? it seems as fuel is not gettin into the carb but i do smell fuel when pumping the gas. anything would be helpfull thanks !

Look down the carb throat while pushing the throttle back. You should see two strong streams of gas pour into the engine each time you push the throttle back. If not, then you do not have any fuel, and I would suspect the fuel filter or the fuel pump first. The fuel filter usually screws into the front of the carb where the fuel line hooks to.

so i poured a lot of gas in the carb and it started working. it ran as long i as i held thepedal down. at idle it would stall. my pop did notice it leaking from the fuel filter, so i tighted it down a lil more and saw a crack in it. when it rotated so the crack wouldnt leak the truck held it idle. so i bought a new 1.
