AutoMeter Trans Temp Guages???

I am looking into a trans temp guage and have found two autometers with a HUGE price difference. I did a search and cant find the info I need.

UltraLite II trans temp model #4957 $130
stepper motor meter movement

UltraLite II trans temp model #4949 $62
air core meter movement

Can someone explain the difference and if its worth the $$$

Thanks

From an electrical stand point a stepper motor is just that able to "step" movement in very small increments.

So who has which guage? Does it really warrant doubling the price?

I would imagine that the stepper guage is more accurate as far as "dead nutz" on. A mechanical guage will have a + or - factor. I would have to see the specs on each guage to see what the exact difference was.

Oh and excuse my lack of manners. Welcome to FTE!!
