My truck has a 300I6 and i want to pick yalls head about what to replace it with. right now its got a i believe 5speed with bulldog tranny and the 300i6. i want a V8 so here are my thoughts:
  • 302 Carbed
  • 351W Carbed
  • 390 Carbed
  • 302 Fuel injected
  • 351W Fuel injected
so what do you guys think which of those engines with still make it pull great and get decent gas mileage while also being reliable. i had thought about leaving the 300i6 but the fuel injection on the truck is pretty much shot because of the previous owners hack job.

keep the 300 six.

none of these engines in these trucks will ever get "decent" gas mileage.

I agree with Quicklook2 and Itallian Stallion. Keep the 6. They have very good torque, more than the 302 probably. I'd hit the local salvage yards and try to find some less hacked wiring from a like truck and do a very thorough tuneup. Maybe open up the exhaust with headers and highflow cat. That may pick up an MPG or 2.
