i have a 03 sd with the 5.4 motor cc with 3.73 gears on 35's. i want to tow my tt that will be loaded to about 6k lbs. should i put the stocks on or just leave the way it is? i have 75mile tow each way on flat land except a tunnel and two bridges.
I've towed a 23' horse trailer with two horses and tack with mine no problem. i'm running 34" on 20" wheels. 5.4 with 3.73's. i had to run with the o/d off most of time to keep it from shifting in and out.
the temps are going to be in the mid 80's to low 90's when i will be towing this thursday and coming back sunday morning.so it is not worth swapping tires ? i just dont want to burn up the tranny.

lets just get this out of the way. you need to sell your truck and get a deisel or a v10.
ok, now that it is said i would think you would be ok. turn off the overdrive and have fun camping
truck pulls fine with the stocks on it. i just need to get some time and $$ to get it done. then once i have gears no more problems i hope
i know. i tow alot with mine and have no problems. but everytime there is a towing w/ a 5.4 question there are people that say that a 5.4 can't tow that and you need to get a deisel. i don't think that 3" taller tires are going to change it to much. you are not towing real heavy.
