I am looking for some info on what is needed to be done to be able to tilt the nose on my 71 f100. I saw it done on one in ohio but i misplaced the data.
Best way to do it is with pins and springs from the fenders and hood into the firewall, and a slide out and hinge at the correct pivot point on the frame rails..... or, slice the fenders and leave the rear lowers attached to the cab and tilt the rest... The front end has to slide forward before tilting to prevent the lower rear fenders from hitting the doors when it's tilted..... I've done a few trucks, if you have an above average amount of talent in sheet metal work and a working knowledge of geometry it's not too tough.....If this would be your first attempt at body mods, start with something easier!!!!! There's a couple ways to do it right, but a ton of ways to do it wrong!!!!!!!
another option you may want to look at is a company out of florida called us body source they sell a couple of one piece tilt forward front end kits with the hinges they have full fender types and a pre split set up where the rear lower part of the fender bolts on and the rest of the front end tilts forward. A few other things to give thought to is relocating everything mounted to the inner fenders.
Wow!!! Great looking truck, thanks for putting up the pic, spots!!!! Also, the pictures show the story a whole lot better then I can explain it..... Like I said, if you've done a lot of sheet metal fab work it's no big deal to tilt the front.... But don't get into it thinking it's a cake walk.... Sheet metal work is very time consuming and takes a few bucks worth of special tools..... But to me it's still the best part of a build!!!!!
Anybody have any info on the paint color in Spots' pics???? absolutely drop dead gorgeous paint!!!!!!
This was one of the more heavily customized bumpsides on ebay. Sorry but I can't recall the exact color. Looks titanium-ish. Here's a few more shots that may help with the identification. Cool rollpan too!
Sure is a good looker!!!!! Got to get mine done and sold so I can start on another bumpside!!!! So many ideas, so little time!!!! Fit and finish on the silver one is superb, somebody really put a lot of time into it and it shows!!!!!!
