2005 idle rough, broke down question
My 2005 F150 Supercrew has idled rough on and off lately. Yesterday it idled rough and the check engine light came on. I pulled it over in a parking lot and it was smoking a grayish color and smelled bad. I turned it off. Tried to start it and it now won't even crank over. Acts like it is locked up. 6 weeks to go on the warranty, it only has 24,000 miles. When I got my owners manual out I saw the fuel injector letter. Thinking it might be the fuel injectors. If its stuck open would it lock up the motor with too much gas in the cylinder? What would happen if the gas sat in the cylinder for days until the dealer looked at it? Maybe i'm off track here? Any suggestions as to what it could be? I have noticed a blacker than normal tailpipe and occasional black smoke at start up. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like you answered your own questions. New engines nowadays have very tight tolerances and clearances. You have a bunch of gas leaking into the cylinder it's got to find a place to go or bend some valves, etc..

It was the #3 and #4 fuel injectors. They leaked gas into the cylinder and hydrolocked the engine. The ford dealer says its fixed. I asked if the raw gas sitting in the cylinder could cause damage or get in the oil and they said no. Will be ready tomorrow. That was a quick fix.
