stock stereo replacement

Hi everyone
I´m planning change my ugly am/fm stereo and get a new one Cd stereo, but aftermarket stereos seems to be thinner than normal stock stero. I don´t want to leave gaps at dash. Is this just my imagination ? What can be made for a better looking??

when you buy/get your stereo installed you will get a dash kit. its a plastic border thing that fills the gap around the new stereo. me CD player came with a thing that worked jsut fine but i know on some dodges you have to get this HUGE filler piece because of their stock stereos being utterly huge and useless (typical of dodge, haha) anyways, hope this helped a little.

On my 68 the stock hole for the radio is bigger than 1 din. Do I need to be looking for a din and a half or a double din? Not sure if din is spelled correctly.
Thanks,
Russell

also adressing ur problems of the hole being bigger than one din, pioneer makes a special size reciever for i think its chrysler or chevy, that might be a help. u could always try a intallation kit the has several size plastic pieces to go around and fill in the empty space left over from a one din reciever. or u could make ur own spacers, possiblities are endless...

Probably going to go with making my own. Crutchfield offers no sizes on this old a truck. I tried doing there little thing on the website.
