My buddy who is a mechanic told me that my steering box or column is worn out on my 88 bronco. Are the adjustable like I know some are?The front end feels really loose from side to side. He said the suspension is fine. What do you guys think it is?
Tires are a little bigger than stock. I will get the size if it matters. He said ford used the same column for tilt and non tilt. Just kinda blocked it off. I just want to fix the steering. The steering wheel goes left to right and the wheels dont move. A lot of play!
I am extremely pleased with the one I installed a few months ago. Red-Head Steering Gear website will give you info and toll free number to order. If you have ever replaced one you know you don't want to do it several times to get a good one.
There is very little top go wrong with your culoum. There is a slide that usally has a little play. There are plastic guides that ware out. They dont make that much play. I replaced mine with aluminum, but it probubly wont colapse in an accedent. Probubly your play is in your box. I think I would go with the above poster with red head box. I hear good things about them. Dont waste yourt money on an AGR box. I'll sell you mine if thats what your want. The other option is a used one out of a two wheel drive exploder. The box is the same and the exploder doesnt waer them out.
