CD Player install

I have a '90 F-150, and I'm trying to install a single CD, in-dash player.

First, I bought one from a junkyard that I thought didn't work. I wired it up, the radio worked fine, but the CD wouldn't even spin up when I put it in. It was ejected a second later.

So I brought it back and then I bought one off ebay. This one is a Sony instead of an Alpine. However, it does the exact same thing. Did I just buy two defective players, each defective in the same way? Or am I hooking something up incorrectly? Where does the actual CD motor get its power from? Wouldn't it draw from the same source that the radio from?

Thanks for any help!

Man, sounds like you got crappy decks both times. The motor to spin the CD does get it's power from the same place as the rest of the radio. If you were hooking something up incorrectly, nothing would work. Looks like you'll have to try again for another deck. Sorry.

Good Luck

Was it the same CD both times?

Was it a CD-R or CD-RW, or jsut a store bought CD??

Andy

Ohh man, how comes you go to buy electronics to junkyard?? And also Ebay isn´t a good place for that.
But I´d suggest you check first if you´re having power from your wires at truck. Perhaps you´re not giving power to it.

I tried a couple different store bought CD's that I've never had a problem with in any other player.

I go to the junkyard because it's cheaper! Although it would be nice to get one that works the first time. Maybe it's time to bite the bullet.

If the CD player wasn't getting power, then wouldn't the radio also not work? Like I said, everything works fine, it's just that the CD won't spin.

Thanks for the speedy & numerous replies, guys!
