HELP !!! 89 Ford Ranger
I have a 1989 Ranger xtended cab 2.9 V-6 with automatic trans. It went out. I am going back with a 5 speed manual trans.
I found a donor truck, but it is a 1991 Ranger ext. cab with a 3.0.
I did some research and found a website that sell clutch parts. They say that the 3.0 uses the same clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing/slave cylinder and master cylinder as the 2.9, but the flywheels are different.
The 91 donor truck has a nice 5 speed (still attatched to the motor, and the motor is already removed from the truck and sitting on the ground !!!)
The motor is shot but my motor is fine.
I also read that my 1989 Ranger (if it was a standard trans) would have the same transmission as my is 1989 Mazda B2600?
Also a Ford 4.0 V-6 (1991-1997) is supposed to use the exact same 5 speed transmission as the 2.9?
I plan to remove the clutch/brake pedal assembly out of the 91 tomorrow to install in my 89. I can have all the parts off the 91 I want, so what all should I get off of the 91 to help in my swapping the junky automatic over to the 5 speed? Would the drive shaft of the 91 happen to be the same for the 89 with a 5 speed or is it different? ALL help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Thanks
