I know this has been ask hunderds of times but the search did not turn up much.
My parents have been looking for a bigger suv, they have a ford exploror 4 door now. They found a 2000 Excursion with a V10 for $6900. It has 100100 miles on it that is all I know about it. They are looking for a bigger suv to drive to church and vistpeople and to go pray for people, that way they can only drive one car. Most of the time it is 6 or 7 people that go with them.
It will not be there dalydrive my mom will use the Exploror for that and my Dad drives his work trucks.
I guess my question is, is the Excursion worth the money is it a good suv.
I have a 2000 excursion with a v-10. I like it. I have 3 kids so the room is great. I also tow with it. I have had not had too many problems with it. The gas mileage you can expect will be around 11-12 city and 14-15 highway. Thas rough estimate, your driving habits will vary the fuel mileage. Good luck with your purchase.
I have a 2000 Excursion that I've had for about 22 months now and I love it. The V10 is an excellent engine with plenty of power. Just check the background on the vehicle with a Carfax and an Oasis report. There's some really good deals on the gas Excursions right now with folks panicking about higher fuel prices. I had five Suburbans previously which I really liked, but they're not in the same class as the Excursion.
I have a 2000 V10 4x4, 4.30 axles. 149,000 miles. 11mpg at 75-85mph.
Put in front wheel bearings at 108,000 miles ,$700, we were going on a 5000 mile trip.
Put in a tailshaft seal at about 120k $100.
Changed oil every 3k.
I like it just because people are scared about the gas so they sometimes end up cheap. I get about 14mpg on my 5.4L F250 so that doesn't sound bad for an excursion and I love the F250.
I have been looking at an 05 Excursion myself with a V10. 11 MPG sounds good for a big engine like this.
My 5.8 Bronco gets 12.5 - on a good day.
I just requested an Oasis report in the 6.0 forum and it may take a day or two to get the information. I am sure the dealer selling the Ex will have it for at least that long.
I have seen alot of V10 cheap, I don't know if people were daily driving them and then gas went up or what but you can take you pick of any F2/350 or excurion by me, they are for sale all over the place.
I love my excursion, mines diesel. I thought about getting a gas but I bought mine mainly for towing and we don't use it much besides that, so we went with the diesel. I get like 20-22 MPG hwy and 15-17 hwy towing.
Got 210,000 on my X V10 and the only thing I have put into it besides some repair work on the front axle was an engine/trans. I started going through a quart of oil in a week so the boss did a motor/trans swap.
