I have a 2000 F350 SRW with what I thought was a 4R100 transmission, I notice there is no bypass valve on passenger side. Did they make some of these trans with no valve. Do I need to order one? I am asking because I am about to change fluid and filter.
Its raining right now and have to work tomorrow but will check on the spacers.. I just have the two line from the cooler and there is not a line connecting the two fittings that should contain the bypass valve.
Ron, My transmission doesn't have the bypass line or valve just the two lines from the front of the truck. Thanks for the picture. It must have been removed by a previous owner. I just got the truck end of last year.
I see you're in Alabama. Unless it ever gets REALLY cold there, if you keep your fluid clean with either external filtration or regular changes, you'll likely never need the bypass anyway.
If the tranny starts spitting stuff down the cooler lines, causing the cooling system to get clogged, you've got bigger problems, anyway. Of course, an in-line filter would catch that stuff before it clogged the cooler, but would itself get clogged from the stuff.
