no power some times

Today I pulled the code from my truck and am not to sure what i means.

It said something to the effect of TP & or ACC Position or Circit to High, also No Tac input on SPOUT.

I was curising roughl 35-40mph at a steady pace and all of a sudden it felt like I took my foot off the gas. When I pressed the gas to the floor it didn't do anything. It didn't bog down or anything. Well it did accelerated a little but a geo could accelerate faster then what I currently was... Any ideas on what this is. Sorry guys I forgot to write down the code.

edit: The issue comes and goes. Some times the truck has gobs of power and is a little touchy on the gas pedal and other times well... its like im driivng a something slower then a metro and getting crappy gas milage. lol

Edit #2: lol My grandma (who drives the truck more then me. its my weekend ride) thinks it has something to do with the AC and that it only does it when the AC is on.

Sounds like a TPS failure, stick a DMM on it and measure resistance, it should increase smoothly from closed to open with no dead spots. Ford Fuel Injection has loads of info on the sensors and how to test them.

Well the CEL came back. I don't know why I have such a hard time reading blinking lights but I just do for some reason.... so here is a youtube video! My cam only has a 1 min time limit for some reason. I also ran a KOER test and I think I got a code 13 or 4. When the CEL comes on the engines RPMs jumped high like the truck was going to run off with itself.

YouTube - what codes?

To me it looks like you are getting a 123 - 212, too bad the camera ran out it started to repeat at the end... Someone else look at the vid. because i hate to give out false advice - but i did watch it like 12 times... Btw - It looks like it "blinks" faster than my 91', or i'm not fully awake yet....lol

Thanks dan91. Those two codes you mention both seem like it has something to do with what I had mentioned earlier. When I gave code details but not the code.

I posted a new video. This one is like 2 to 3 min long. Found a few settings on my cam to change the duration of the video.

Still appears to be giving a 123 - TPS circuit has intermittently failed above maximum 4.5 volts, and a 212 - Loss of IDM input to EEC or SPOUT circuit grounded.
The definitions come from Ford Fuel Injection
Try checking all connections, sometimes the rubber seal breaks down after 14 years of heat and water.
Had that problem on my truck when I bought it.
Hope this helps some...

Thanks dan! What rubber seals are you talking about that I should check? I've talked to a few other people that got different codes from it but they all appear to point to the TPS so far. It looks as if I installed it incorrectly. (I just slapped in it their and went)

I had bad corrosion on the TPS plug, EGR position sensor, all the grounds under the hood and the TFI module it was the worst - with the dielectric grease gone, more like it turned into some sort of compound that I had to scrape off the side of the dizzy when I replaced the module, the 3 "pins" that go inside were almost gone.
I don't know how it ran home when I bought it, it threw all kinds of codes.
The corrosion came off easy with a fingernail file, and a small wire brush...
It is possible that the TPS is installed incorrectly, but if you took off the old one then replaced it you probably did it correctly - and the new one might have failed...
On a side note, I did'nt think there was much adjustment in the TPS and only one way to put one on, how did you install yours? Did you get the little tab on the throttle body to engage the sensor when it went on?

I have heard that these older trucks are bad about grounding issues. I'll have to check and clean them later on when I have time.

Now on the TPS I dont remeber a litle tab. I just unbolted and bolted back in and was up and running in about 20 min. It was a pretty straight forward installation. I didn't test anything just did it preatty much like a 02 sensor for the most part.
