ya thats what i'm thinkin im gonna get it towed to my work, and use a generic snap on tool scanner and see whats up thats the best i can do for free lol
most autozones will do it too. The cheap computers will not be able to get to the ford tranny codes..but the snap on one you mention may be able to do it. Hang in there, we will get it going! It really could be as simple as an $11 part that takes 20 minutes for an armature to replace.
With the speed-o out, the ABS light on & the tranny shifting acting up, the rear ABS speed sensor, located atop the front center of the rear differential housing, it's wiring & electrical connector should be high on your suspect list imo.
well the weird thing i found out after i got in it todaY, THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT FROM ice cold to heat. and the plug in for the scan tools does not have power at all.. used three different scan tools each said no vehicle power, so no codes... could that be something more serious along the lines of a bad ECM?
lol, mine does the same thing. I was able to get it going by jumping the power wire to a hot wire from the cig lighter (I actually have a tool that I use that is a cig lighter cord extender that is cut off on the end and has 2 alligator clamps for use in testing stuff).
use this on the power wire on the obdII port (upper right one when looking from the drivers seat if I remember right).
Just leave a pigtail hanging down to "add" 12v power to from another source, like the cig lighter. Tracking down mine is next on my list of things to do, but I have been just fine with this setup for the time being and was done with "approval" of my cousin who works for ford.
Something like this, you should be able to get them at any autoparts store or walmart:

You folks with a "no power" diagnostic connector, check the in cabin fuse panel cigar lighter position, as it also powers the diagnostic connector.
On the A/C problem, maybe the blend door connection has gone belly up, a common thing.
Look in the "Tech Info" thread atop this forum for a blend door diagnostic how too & a link to a fix with pictures.
@paw, Do you know which fuse number? Not sure about my cig lighter, but my axillary 12 volt plug (the second cig lighter spot) works just fine. I had thought the computer port might be powered by the same as the radio switched hot, but that turned out not to be true.
I'm sure this is VSS issue. check VSS wiring and if wiring is OK change VSS. VSS failures cause ABS and PCM codes. yeah, not all scanners pull ATE ABS codes, becouse ATE unit was made in Germany and use k-line, but PCM codes should easilly be pulled.
