Cool Boost problems

Help, has anyone had this problem? The turbo hits 1500psi of boost and then drops all power like a intercooler line has come off but that is not the case. There is no power but the truck smokes black and loses power but does not stall out. The only codes that came up where for an exhaust and egr sensor. Replaced so far, the intercooler boots, exhaust sensor, egr sensor, turbo tests fine (removed the turbo and there was no coke build up and all the guts looked good), and I am not sure what else the shop it is at has replaced. I have not seen my truck in 4 months and I am wondering if anyone has had problems like this? Off waranty but don't care, just what my truck back. The mechanic lucky has a wrecked 6.0L that he is trying parts from before he sinks alot of new parts that the truck does not need.

you mean your egt's get to 1500 degrees right? Are you confident that your mechanic is familiar an capable of working on a 6.0L? Sounds like he is just throwing parts at it....

Boost mistake

I made a mistake and forgot to edit it before I posted the page, it reads 15 psi on the boost gauge when the truck starts to crash.

ohhhhhh...Hmmm.. I'm no tech at all but if he has an extra turbo laying around for your application I would have him toss it in and see what it does. What year? What gauges?

It's a 2004 F-350, motor only has 24000 miles on it, replaced by ford and I am running an autometer guage set; Boost, temp, and pyrometer. I am not running a program or any other mods since the motor was changed.

You mention the egr sensor do you mean you replaced the EGR itself? I would also feel around all the intercooler connections to make sure there are no cracks anywhere. The boost goes to nothing and then black smoke, sounds like no air while still getting plenty of fuel. Sounds like a crack or a split in something that lets go when you hit 15 PSI. Let us know what you come up with.

I second the cracked cooler idea.If all other boost tubes have been checked and the egr valve and turbo check out ok.

Well the turbo is working

The turbo is working (turned out to be wire connections), but now the truck is posting codes that all 8 injectors have failed. I hope to get the truck back before 2009.

Have some one pull the hoses that connect the airflow ubes to the turbo and inter cooler. Should be several usually blue black or red they use hose clamps take them off and clean the hoses and tubing, check for tears/holes in hoses. Replace as needed (or just replace)

That was one of the first things checked. Replaced both hose ends and clamps and the tubes were clean. Sorry miss read the post, we just cleaned and changed things out on the main intercooler lines

My truck has set the same codes, saying all 8 injectors failed. Done it twice now and both times I was pulling a 28'TT. Trying to make it into traffic and mashing the throttle?

Dealer had no idea why.

that could be a bad FICM or chaffed wire harness...the FICM harness is prone to getting rubbed on by a couple of bolt heads underneath the FICM (box mounted to driver's side valve cover).....

Hey makedust did you fix your prob. I have been having kind of the same problem since i got my truck back from the dealer. Had studs, fluidamper, and egr deletekit from liberator perf. installed and my boost goes up to 15 and kind of stops only when going up hill will it pass 15 maybe hit 20 but not even. Also i have a wieird noise ontop of the turbo also when shutting truck down. checked all boots and all seem to be ok visually but havent taken them off to look at them. Again did you fix your problem if you did what did you do??
