[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Jan-02 AT 05:57 PM (EST)]I agree Xplod makes a great speaker for the price. Im running 6 (10") Xplod's in the rear of my 01 Xped and 4 Midi's with the built in tweet in all the doors.
Honestly, I was gettin rock bottom pricing on the Sony and the Kicker Equipment, thats why i went that direction....knew a guy in the business. I think i paid somewhere around 300 for each Enclosure. Door speakers i dont remember the price of. sorry couldnt be more help..its was about a year ago when i purchased all this.
xpold equipment is terrible. i have seen my friends with them and they had nothing but problems with thier amps, and there subs are just as horrible. they dont comnpare to a good set of subwoofers. i had 2 12" pionners and they blew the xplods away. as far as speakers go they might be fine, but i have never personally heard them. there HUs are decent, but for the price u can get an alpine or clarion
sony makes good head units and the speakers are great for the price. the amps are what need work. i just cant stand them they do not put out what they say and some cheaper lower name brands are twice as good. they seem to malfunction alot too.
thats what i am saying, there subs arent that great either. this one kid i know blew 3 of them before he switched to MTX. butyes there amps do suck. my 4 channel 400w jensen amp puts out more power than there amps. also not to claim jensen is good, but i have really pounded that amp, and i bought is used and it was used hard before i got it and its still working like brand new. and i used an altameter and it pushes out close to what it claims.
My dad has built theese custom boxes with two 6x9's in each and he has those hooked to a 250 watt amp in our living room. also he has 2 10subs and one 12in. sub in there also. we can shake the neighborhood whit that stereo. The 6x9's are all xplods! the 10's and 12 are JL audio. The amp is an optimus he got for a good price.....
I do know one guy who has 2 10inch sony xplod's on a kenwood 600watt amp and his system bumps harder than any pioneers out there!!! and he's had those subs for about a year and a half! now I do agree about their amps being crap... but come on, as long as you break in the speakers right and don't put an amp twice the power they're rated for on em...they'll work just fine!
i had 2 12" pioneer in my truck and it was louder than most kids with xplods unless they had more than 2. but yes there amps do suck. the general rule is $1 per 1W RMS. there speakers arent that good either, but there all basic subs. im an Infinity(subs)/pioneer(all cept amps)/Rockford Fosgate(subs and amps)/Clarion (hu)/Alpine (HU and sub) fan...so as u can see im not biased, but i do know what i am talking about
