Annoying Off-road Clunk
I have a clunk under the front end that beginning to bother me. If I had to guess, I would say it is related to the sway bar assembly, but I'm not sure. I don't think its the loose body mount thing.
Basically, whenever I go over uneven terrain that gets the body rolling side-to-side, I get a big CLUNK! from under the front end. Kind of a muffled sounds of heavy parts, not like a plink or anything. Whenever I hit another bump that rolls the body in the opposite direction, I get another clunk and so on. So, it seems to clunk whenever the sway bar is put under relatively high stress.
I just had the sway bar links replaced, so I know the bushings are fine. I was thinking the sound was the upper sway bar link bolt shifting slightly against the frame (the bolt sliding up or down a bit in the hole where it passes through the frame as the link is pushed/pulled by body roll) Is that a reasonable thought?
Anybody know the torque specs on those upper bolts anyway?
Thanks in advance!
