Well this is wierd, if I'm turning full to the right and then go to turn left, the truck will straighten out but will not turn left untill I nudge the wheel to the right. Then it will go left just fine.I looked at the front linkage and all looks fine. By the way its lifted. It just started this recently with 25k miles on the lift. Any suggestions where to go first? Thanks for reading!
At 57k , I would make sure your steering stabilizers aren't bent or something else first. That's low miles for a steering box. Mine is original and is pushing 156k.
Ford puts that stabilizer real low to the ground. I've taken out two already. I have since relocated it with some new brackets and haven't had any problems yet. In Az there are alot of rocks. I hope that's your problem.
Well I just got around to pulling the stabilizer and the problem is still there. So I guess a steering box is in need.Any other places to look first? Thanks! Also is there a good place to order the box from?Or the dealership?
You're welcome. Steering gear can go at any time on these things, I've seen them get stiff at 20k (mine did on my '99 at 22k). Just depends on how much you "strain" your steering. Big tires, snow plows, lots of off roading can tear them up quick.
