key vs. fob

hello.

this is driving me nuts, so i hope one of you can help! thanks for taking the time to read this.

unless i unlock my truck (1995 F250 PSD7.3L) with the fob, the alarm goes off. when i unlock it with the door key and then open the door, the lights flash and the horn goes beep beep beep etc.

this i compounded by the fact that my fob only work about 5% of the time. i have replaced the fob battery, so i am assuming that is not the problem.

long story short, i want to toss the fob in the trash and use my key only.

any ideas?

Does the alarm go off if you open it from the passenger side with the key only?
Has the truck ever been broken into?

Unless I'm mistaken, the alarm should only sound if you lock the truck with the fob. If you just manually lock it or use the electric lock button on the door, the alarm shouldn't be set.
