On my bosses truck the digital gauge above the boost guage says TDC Fault. It does this when you start the truck up and it stays on during operation. Truck runs fine but wondern what this might be caused by. Any help is appreciated
It might help if we knew what year the truck is, and what digital gauge you are talking about. There is no digital gauge above the boost gauge in my truck. The boost gauges is part of the tack. In fact there are no digital gauges at all, except the brake controller and that's nowhere near the boost gauge.
So, I'm kind of lost here. Are these aftermarket gauges? Or a Scangauge?

No but there is a digital msg center that is by the boost gauge(I know it's not above the boost gauge, but it is close.

To my knowledge there isn't an aftermarket gauge that would display anything like "TDC" or "TBC", not even scangauge. Best bet is he is talking about the digital msg center, which also does mpg(rather accurate or not), miles to empty etc which all those could be considered digital gauges as well, especially if you consider the TBC's digital display of gain as a gauge.

Yes that's probably right. I have had a TBC fault before, and I think it might have displayed a line on the message center, in addition to the TBC controller flashing a red trailer symbol. I mostly remember a single beep, and then not being sure what had caused it for a few moments.
This guys problem could be as simple as water in the trailer connector.
It is the msg center and i'm going to check for water today
Jethro, the brake controller is only supposed to be active when a trailer is connected. But sometimes water can get in the connector and cause the truck to think there is a trailer when there is not. So it senses a fault. You still have not said what year the truck, but this seems to be a common problem on the '08 trucks. You might want to search around the 6.4L motor forum here on FTE. Most of the '08 truck stuff seems to end up in that forum and I know that it has been discussed there, and also has been discussed in the towing forum. It seems to be less common on the '05-'07 trucks for some reason, but I'm sure it could happen to any of them.
Of course, if it was an '08 I would be taking it back for warranty work. Especially since it is a known issue.
The reason that it is less common on the 05 to 07 is because the trailer connector is pointed down a little, wont hold water. The 08 is parallel to the ground, which can cause it to hold water. But on the other hand I do like the double doors on the 08 even for the four way connector.
I had the "TBC FAULT" message occur many times... took it in and they replaced my master brake cylinder-saying there is a sensor that can go bad in the cylinder- never had a problem since.
