motor won't turn?

I put my motor and trans in a few weeks ago, and never tried to turn it over by hand with the trans on. It turned on the stand with no problems, but won't budge with the trans on. Is it possible for a bolt to hit the block from the flexplate and converter?

What motor and trans is this? Was it a rebuild or a swap using a different tranny or engine. There are very specific and different flexplates you have to use for each engine/tranny combo or you risk pushing the TC back too far and jambing it into the tranny oil pump.

Sorry, its a 302 with a C6 trans. I picked up the trans and converter together, so thats not a problem. And I have a 164 tooth flexplate that was for the C6 and AOD. This is a swap into a Mazda pickup, so both are from different sources.

The C6 and AOD do not take the same flexplate, but if you got the C6 plate then you can eliminate that as a possibility. Can you turn the motor with a breaker bar on the crank bolt?

Thanks very much, I did not know there were 2 different flexplates. I originally ordered my flexplate when I had the AOD, then never even thought that would have made the difference. So what is the difference between the 2 plates?

It's the offset from the crank, too much and the TC is pushed back into the tranny and binds.

I've got to ask how you got the TC bolted up to the flex plate without turning the crankshaft over? Every time I have reinstalled, I had to generally line up the TC bolts with the hole in the flex plate and manipulate the TC into place to put the self-locking nuts in place.
What was your procedure?

The TC was turning fine before the trans was bolted on, I guess thats where it was binding. Thanks very much for the help.
