I have an 06 F250 Diesel I use for plowing snow. After the season, it sat for a couple months without moving. Know the steering is messed up. When I turn a corner, the steering wheel does not come back to center like it did. Also, it feels like it pulls to the left and then when you get it just about straight it jumps over to pulling to the right and vice versa. The truck steered fine before it sat. Any suggestions?
Needs an alignment and have the front end checked.
Check the power steering reservoir as well.
Also, what I just came across on my 07 F-350, if your steering stabilizer is blown it may not return to center very well. I removed my stocker and installed a Icon dual steering stabilizer kit and the return to center is night and day better now.
You could also have any of the steering components in the front frozen up or stiff. Really need to put the front up and see if anything is loose, or very difficult to move. Then you can check the movement of the ball joints by disconnecting the tie rods and turning the spindles seperately to check for binding. Also, I have see bad u-joints cause the spindles to be tough to turn, because the joints still flex when the wheel turns even if it's not in 4x4.
