I have an 86 F350 with a Carbed 460 in it. I want to find another motor so I can start rebuilding the lower end of it and just swap all the upper stuff on my current truck. Is their anything about the blocks (year, host car / truck etc) I should be looking for? What 460's blocks would work (years etc)
Pre '79 engines were internally balanced.
So if you don't see a counterweight behind the harmonic balancer you will need the flywheel/flexplate that came with that engine.
If you have a 4X4, and you get a motor from a car you would need to swap the oilpan for yours with the rear sump to clear the crossmember.
If you're only asking about the motor mounts and bell housing pattern, they should be the same throughout.
