i just had my turbo replaced and they reflashed me to the lastest and greatest, but before all of that, i was getting 17-18mpg empty hwy at 65-70mpg. since the new turbo it seems worse. i havent been able to check it empty yet. i just got back from towing my new 11k camper and got 11mpg towing down I-71 in ohio which seems like a upward climb each way. all hand calc. and i add power service with each fill
I am driving from North Pole Alaska to Syracuse NY to Waycross GA and back to North Pole Alaska in August. I know I will not be going fast because I want good MPG.
We are vacationing and I am bringing a 32' enclosed car hauler back home with me.
I have the 3.73 gears and the factory Continental tires

holy sh*^! i feel for ya on going slow to get the most MPG's! i just drove from Beaufort, SC to Las Vegas, NV last month and it cost me about $900 to drive there and about $750 to drive back. on the way there i only had a dirt bike in the back and on the way back i was empty. i don't even wanna think about what it would cost towing a 32 footer! my best of wishes to ya! haha
mxer0022, or whoever: how do you set up your account so you can have the small section at the bottom appear with an automatic pic, quote, stats, whatever? I'd like to set mine up but can't find out where. All I know how to do is copy forum codes from my galleries on the page like this:
Now for a comment pertaining to the discussion. I've personally installed hundreds of chips, tuners, whatever, It's what I do for a living. Some of you might not believe this, but lately what I've been recommending to my 6.0 customers going for fuel economy is the Hypertech Max Energy tuner, and an intake & 4" exhaust too if they can afford it. the best mileage seems to be with the chip on level three, and drive with your foot out of the gas. typical results from chip only are 1-3 mpg gain, some grandpas can pull 4 on a good day. With my favorite intake, the enclosed AFE stage II intake, 4" exhaust, and chip typical economy gains have been 4-6 mpg gain. That's no exaggeration, but 6 mpg average gain is the most. Check this out: the programmer gives a peak increase of about 115 hp, and about 200 ft/lb torque gain, and NO PYRO NEEDED. I thought this was bull crap because 6.0's seem to run pretty hot when chipped, but we installed a pyro anyway in a buddy's truck running 37's and pulling a trailer. He simply could not get it to overheat. Hypertech even claims to not void manufacturer's warranty. 30 day money back guarantee no matter who sells it to you, and it usually sells for around $380. I'd be running one if I still had a VGT on mine. If you think the numbers I gave you are bogus, go put one on yours and document the results. BTW I do not work for hypertech, just love their new tuner. It works equally good on duramaxes and 03+ cummins.
you have to go into your user CP and then click on the "edit signature" icon on the left side of the screen. it is the very first option of the things to edit your account. there you will be able to list everything you have done to your truck, add quotes, whatever you want to say or show at the end of each of your posts. you can also add a pic!

If your buying the trailer then i wouldnt go Tag
Gooseneck trailer all the way.I get 11-11.5 mpg pulling a tag long distances.I get 13-14 mpg pulling a 40 foot gooseneck.and the gooseneck is 12 inches taller.
Before you go to the factory 20's be sure to check out the tire prices they're insane. I should know I'm on my third set.
I just got a set of 20's with no rubbe,r have to wait a few months now to buy the tires, going to cost me $450 per corner. I'm hoping they'll last me more then 1 year at that cost.

Major OUCH!
I think my 305 BFGs were about $1100, mounted, balanced -- the whole shebang. Of course I've paid far more in fuel costs since I put 'em on...
