OK, no prob. I'd say that I've been extraordinarily lucky, then.
They work and they do what I need them to do, which is more than I can say for the only Compaq I ever bought.
Check out the Asus sometime...My German Shepherd and my kid have beat on this thing and where others would have died...Great Computer and great customer service with ruggedness..Warrintiee is great on those as well
'If you have budget in mind, that would help. I am using a $400 laptop now but a low cost laptop probably will not be enough for your 4 years at Chico."
Buying cheap laptops and replacing them with cheap laptops is perfectly legitimate. The hardware is there to serve you, and given the way prices drop on hardware getting two years out of a notebook is fine. If it's still useful, don't replace it. There's no such thing as a future-proof computer!
I ordered HP laptop number 7 yesterday from ビーグカメラ, my girlfriend wanted one like mine to replace her Japanese made Sharp. I wish they were as cheap here as they are in the states, one comparable to the model I bought last year at Circuit City (for $949) cost 147000 yen here, or about $1400. But unlike in the states, I was able to get it made in pink (her favorite color), and arrange for it to be delivered and set up at her apartment for no extra charge.
I'm glad I went to ビーグカメラ in Ginza, normally I go to Sofmap in Akihabara, but I didn't feel like taking the train and Ginza is walking distance. Yesterday a maniac Otaku killed 7 people right in front of the Sofmap. He told police that he wanted to die. Too bad he didn't do like the others here usually do and jump off a bridge into the Sumida River.
