Ok...i'm looking to see how many people actually broke plugs changing them, please vote ONLY if you've actually either done the plugs yourself or had them done on your truck. then please answer the questions
i used the tsb on my truck and my brothers both 04's with 52000 miles and didn't break any plugs out of the 16. but i also did a top engine clean and injector flush on them before we did the plugs. my brother's did have 2 plugs that came out really hard and was worried they would break but we got lucky.
edit: i used zep penetrating oil to soak the plugs

I was too scared to allow the miles to build up on them so I changed them way early. 2 months later the champion one piece plugs came out so in another 30k I'll do them again
100,000 miles =7
I got one plug out successfully out myself and broke another.
Brought it to the dealer to get that one out, and change the rest....they broke every plug they touched! That's why I wanted to do it myself....I tried 2 and got 1 out.
They tried the other 6 and broke 6.
Big surprise I did better work than Ford ASE certified mechanics....

If you don't mind me asking ...how much did they charge for that?? did they pull the heads or use "the tool" Thanks .
1. Had almost 30,000 miles on my 2006.
2. Didn't break any.
3. Followed the TSB.
4. Probably a little more Old than New. (Engine was still a little warm and used Aero Kroil rather than MC Carb Cleaner.)
Also, replaced the plugs with the 1 piece Brisk plugs (3VR14S). Gapped them @ 0.040 per Troyer. Only been a few weeks, but the truck has been idling and running great... doing the longevity test now! The plugs are silver, not platinum, but I don't mind changing them more often.

Labor alone was about $2,000
I will never do business with that dealership again, and as for as Ford goes, I will never buy a new vehicle from them again either.....expecially not from a company that screws their customers and doesn't back up what they make.
