EFI TUNER (maybe)
EFI TUNER (maybe)
I contacted a site in regards to a programmer for another make/model, thought Id see what they could do for our efi 4.9's. I assume, the owner, replied and stated that all parties interested should contact them and leave the following information, basically, the more interested, more likely the odds of something actually being done, or it will stay at the bottom of the "to do list":

They have resources we do not. Maybe with enough demand they would be willing to expand what they have to offer, provide a solution.
Maybe it would ultimately involve a harness and your converting to mass air (common conversion in v8 world)/ OBD-II eec, maybe a pinout adapter and another eec, I dont know, the possible end result is unlimited.
Their existing products arent cheap but what they can offer might appeal to more as it appears to be a complete plug and play (which isnt entirely true).
For the cheapest and most simplest route, obviously, change your tfi igniton system to duraspark II (recurve distributor) and run megasquirt to control the injectors....then mod the hell out of it.

I have no doubt that they have more resources available.
Another possible route too cheap/simple (relatively) is a JY Mustang 5.0 MAF computer/harness/MAF sensor (such as the A9L coded ones for manual xmsn) and Tweecer.
Your right that the MS has been done successfully. Personally, I'd prefer to stick with my TFI dizzy.
I think MOATES has been done as well.
For that matter, a shop with the right programming savvy should be able to use an SCT piggyback.
I'm just a little leary of approaching a company about a project base that appears to pre-date their knowledge base. This is a something I'd be happy too be proven wrong.
I've considered approaching a company that I've beta tested for in the desiel world because that system is speed density based like these 300's. They also do modules for Ford desiels and OBD-II gassers. But since I'm aware of thier developement load and this being segificantly outside thier current product steam I haven't.

I checked with SCT at one time, they werent interested in modifying the stock eec. They suggested the A9L, like all others.
SS tried to get tweecer to respond, no answer, hes not 100% sure the tweecer can remove two cylinders from the A9L. I know an actual person that programs eec's can remove two cylinders, from the A9L but that involves dyno time and your not having your eec for a week or two, then once you get it, send it back so he or she can make adjustment again, cause they wont get it right the first time, and then there is the second dyno day to ensure the new changes are correct or instead of dyno time, you get a wideband 02/datalogger....which would be even more out of pocket.
Not to sound rude but neither is here nor there, this is the first company to show interest, people with interest in tuning their efi can contact them or not. Im an optomist at times, maybe I saw potential that doesnt exist. I understand the reality of it, there is a great chance nothing will become of it. Main reason I suggested them, they seem to be extremely thorough and unwilling to put out something that is untested or maybe they know how to market their product really well.....

I know what you mean about SCT directly. Depending on who you talk too, they can be a bit 'peckish' on the subject. Which is why I mentioned a seperate shop. I've gotten the impression, right or wrong, that a someone with the right SCT product(Pro Racer IIRC) that knows thier way around Ford coding can make the neccessary changes. Yep, it will need dyno time, but might be doable. Big maybe though.
I recall SS's posts a few years back about talking with Tweecer. That aside, another member here did successfully convert using Tweecer and, I think, an A9P for an auto with some direct help from someone at Tweecer. It's been a couple of years since I last tried to find that info here though.
Your coming across a rude, at least not to me. It's a discussion we've all had before and probably will again. I'm actually glad to here that someone out there is showing some interest in our application. I'm not currently in a position to act on the interest, but that doesn't stop me from being interested. Hopefully enough in the community are in a position to make this happen.

I don't recall there being any issues with making the A9L processor work, it just isn't what I want. When my wife and I travel this is the truck we take. If I have to take it somewhere when we are on the road I don't want to have problems getting it fixed. This is a big deal to me because I know what it's like to work on someone else's vehicle when it isn't even close to a stock configuration any more. If you take a vehicle in with a mass air conversion and sequential injection and the place doesn't have any wiring diagrams showing those features on your truck you're pretty much screwed even if you tell them exactly what they need to look up.
BigBlockCapri460 on here has an SCT setup on his turbo'd 4.9. The guy who did it for him is a world class *** hole. He is one that I spoke with on the Tweecer Forum and the only productive thing he would ever say was "Pay me to do the SCT" or "Swap to an A9L". His mind was not even open to anything else.
The easiest way we currently have is a L1 processor and the Tweecer. I am open to other ideas, but I know that will work. I am also leery of someone who is not well versed in pre-OBDII applications and I think the HPTuner stuff is more like a Hypertech programmer than it is like the Tweecer.

Ive been trying to think of bigblockcarpri460 for a while, I talked to his SCT man via emails.
Hell, at one time I think I was talking to them all, haha, even bugged the fella on nloc that seems to be the man there.
I get your not wanting to make mods in case something happens, but you dont strike me as someone that would let anyone else work on your truck.

Ordinarily I wouldn't, but if I'm 500 miles from home on vacation I sure as hell don't want to do it. Especially if I don't have the right tools there. If it was nothing but a local cruiser it wouldn't be an issue.
