I found that my front right sway bar link is squeaking. Top bushing looks worn or cut. I went to take it off, the upper bolt hits the Y pipe exhaust. Any suggestions besides taking the Y pipe off? If I cut the bolt and put it through the frame the opposite way it is currently, it might work. Any reason not to do this? Autozone has no bushing listed but have a red poly. bushing kit part #9.8105R Need to have it out to see if they match. Thanks for any suggestions. JOHN
I THINK those bushings are too small. I THINK those are the same ones I just bought just to find out they won't fit. They (Energy Suspension) claimed those are the ones but the bolts won't fit through them.
I can't help much with the bolt issue. My 2WD has the links in a different location. But if you think you'll have the clearance to reverse the direction of the bolt I can't imagine there being any harm in it.
Fixed it by buying a new link at the dealership for $58. The bolt issues was resolved by taking off a bracket that allowed the bolt to clear the frame. Parts guy asked a tech for this advice. FIXED THE SQUEAK !!! JOHN
I'm about to replace the links on my front sway bar as well. Is the bracket that has to be taken off so that the bolt will clear obvious? If not, can you give me a bit of a description?
Yes its clear once you look at it. Its a bracket on the frame on the top of the link. The bottom of the link is what attaches to the sway bar. This was on the left side of my truck. Didn't look or deal with the other side. The links are different on the left and right. Different part numbers. Different bend????
Hope this helps. JOHN
