Surging at idle

I have a 1973 F100 2wd c4 trans with a 2 barrel carb. Truck had set for a few months when I started driving it again it surges at idle when I stop. The truck is running rich. The motor was completely rebuilt 8,000 miles carb was rebuilt by a rebuild center. Distributor was replaced with an electronic accel. I checked for a vacuum leak but could not find a leak. I have an electric choke and it does open when the engine warms. I replaced the egr valve late last year. In the past I have had a problem with spacer to manifold gasket burning a hole causing a leak. I find this to happen when I am doing a lot of highway driving.

Did you check along where the intake bolts to the heads for leaks?

Look for gas dripping down into the barrels when idling. You may have a small piece of debris in the needle and seat.

The EGR "spacer" manifold under the carb is famous for warping, clogging and burning through. Causes eratic vacuum leak problems.

Yes I checked all the manifold bolts carb bolts and vacuum line I even checked the trans modulation for a vacuum leak

Great idea I will check it when I get home

Are these still available or do I need to look for a used one.

Thanks for the great suggestions

I checked for gas dripping and saw none.

I also checked my vacuum it is as high as 19" but drops to 15".

I checked the distributor cap and it looks good.

Any new ideas out there
