Hi All, I hope its OK to post this question here, though its not a truck related audio question, I was hoping to get some info from an expert or two:I'm trying to hook up headphones to my Dad's TV (hes hard of hearing, and won't wear his hearing aids)anyway....I'm trying to hook up headphones for him, his Tv is about 5-6 years old, and I can't find any plug ins on it execpt the fitting for the cable coax, it has been suggested that I plug in the headphones to the RCA outs on the VCR, via an adaptor plug, then use the VCR to change channels and adjust the volume of the TV, I have been advised that CORDED headsets will NOT work like this, as the sound will not be loud enough, and that I need to use WIRELESS headphones, which have an amplifier in the transmitter to do the job, I have been suggested also to use an RF modulator to plug the phones into, sorry this is so long, can anyone shed any light on this for my Dad's Christmas Gift for me???? Thanks!!! Rick
Since its a xmas gift and not some cheap hoopty mod, I would suggest a trip to Radioshack or the like and pose the question to them. I can invision a wireless headset where the transmitter plugged into the audio jacks on the output of the vcr and then amplified this 1 volt signal either at the transmitter or the headset. It would be quite a nice gift.
You could plug a corded one into the audio out on the vcr, but since the signal is only 1v, you would need a small amp. I think these are offered as well for this type of thing. But, I think the wireless setup is a nice gift. Actually, X10.com has some nice little gadgets that transmit both A/V to a remote location, games, tv, anything.:-X12
