This isn’t a diesel problem, but it is a 2008 F350 problem. I was wondering if any of ya’ll have experienced this. I’ve had my truck since Feb. It’s an Auto 6.4 Diesel Crew Cab. I am very pleased with the truck except for the air conditioner, which developed that strong musty odor as soon as I began to use it. Drain tube looks ok. Using the aftermarket sanitizers you spray in the OA intake will mask the problem for a few days, but it keeps returning. I’m in El Paso Texas so the Relative Humidity is generally low. I try to turn the AC off a few miles before stopping, just running the fan to help avoid any additional condensation on the evaporator while it sits idle, but this has little effect other than reducing the intensity of the odor upon startup. Personally, I think that the evaporator section needs to be cleaned well, but I’m sure the dealer may try to avoid this. So, before I bring it in for service, any suggestions or similar experiences? Thanks in advance!
I have the same problem. 08 450 4x4 I dont know how to fix this problem my sef. The best thing i have done is not drive it since deisel is 5.21 a gallon. It just sits now infront of my house.
I have the odor on and off as well. Going to see what the dealership say's when I take it in for my next oil change. Will post back if I find anything out.
Had this in my F150 and the dealer took care of it for me without a problem. They said something about mold growing and used something to kill it. Additionally, since I live in humid Fl. they suggested that I take turn off the recirculate from time to time to allow fresh air inside the unit.
I've actually going to leave it at the Dealer's today. They mentioned changing the fresh air filter, but I'd be surprised if that were it. I'll post what action they take, and its effectiveness. Thanks for the responses thus far - especially the humorous ones since we can all use a laugh!
