Im looking at buying a head unit for my superduty, the factory cd player wont take my cds anymore, i guess lots of people have this problem.....but anyways, im looking at the Alping CDM-7874. i like the looks of it, heard Alpine is really nice and the $200 is in my price range. Anyone have any thoughts on this unit? Oh im running a stock system, the only thing ill do after this is upgrade the speakers. thanks
I run a double din Alpine and love it. I have ran Alpine for a hile, and think you will enjoy it. When you get it, make sure to get the factory plug adapters so you can wire the Alpine to it and plug them into the factory wiring harness. Then if you ever want to put the factory radio back in, you can do it without any problems or rewiring.
I would consider the pioneer DEH-P3500 for 189.99 or the DEH-P4500MP for 219.99. Both of these come with wireless remotes, unlike the Alpine CDM-7874. They all three put out the same power. The pioneers have eq adjustments, they alpine just has the bass engine. I know the pioneers have xovers, I don't know if the alpine does or not. Both the pioneers have a volume ****, instead of the push button volume, not sure on the alpine. I like ***** better than buttons for the volume. And the pioneers are XM ready, the alpine is not. For $200 bucks, I would seriously look at the pioneer first.
I've got a Alpine 7874 in my 1997 F-250. It died after 6 months and was replaced under the 1 year warranty.. It is a good basic unit, nothing fancy, sounds much better than the OEM unit.
