That makes no sense.. Do you know how many oil derricks are closed in this country?

Thats right. Wells that have already been dug and can produced are capped and sitting. The goverment pays them to not pump them. "Just in case"..

IT'S NOT THE PRICE OF OIL

IT IS THE PRICE OF REFINEMENT...

Until we build refineries we will not see an end to these prices.

With oil trading at $130+ a barrel I think it is! Just my .02. The chances of new refineries are pretty slim due the regulations that would have to be met!

Probably due to both refinment and crude oil cost, but mostly the crude cost King 0581 has a point.

What about the diesel road tax. Car manufactures can build diesel cars that get musch high milage than comparable gas models, but diesel is so expensive it makes it a wash. Why don't they find a way to tax the 18 wheelers and not personal vehicles so there is more incentive for better fuel economy with diesel.

Everything you buy at every store is delivered by those 18 wheelers. Personally I would prefer not to have to pay more for everything. It's not like trucking companies just absorb those losses. They pass it on directly to us.....they have to.

Welcome to FTE by the way.

over the road and for hire trucks already pay more taxes and road fees than any personal vehicle. They should lower the taxes and it would have a drematic effect on the economy instead of how it is now with trucking companys taking all the abuse. Sorry for the hijack but this issue grinds me daily.

='s out.

Diesel more but better. Gas less but worse.

I feel like the price was adjusted to compensate. Isn't diesel cheaper to refine? TO and from work cost me the same weather i was in my old f150 or my PSD. I feel had. Man you can buy trucks around here and suv dirt cheap.

I read or heard somewhere that in late 2008 the price of fuel will drop. Due supply and demand. No one will be driving. So demand will be low. Plus, was said that Iran will sell world wide. Plus North Dakota found some oil? I may have my wiring crossed but that is what i remember hearing/reading. Not sure if it is BS but i am crossing fingers.

Up side. My 401k is on the rebound. Now only 5 months behind were i should be. To solid UP days. Woohoo.

King0581 - That is an artificial high tho. That problem stems from people investing in "Oil Futures".. This creates inflation... which is what we have plenty of. Regulate the transportation of the oil over here will help fix this problem

Danskool - that is a pretty optimistic view about people not driving. I think people will just continue to complain and pay it
