$2.99 Diesel Prices

Is Ford looking to do the same as Dodge as far as putting an offer out there like Dodge is doing. $2.99 gal for 3 years/36,000 miles.

It doesn't matter.....

Don't you suspect that the $2.99 per gallon deal might just affect the price you're going to pay for the vehicle?

There is no free lunch.

Except for chrysler there, who has a life time warranty, and huge discounts on current cars. Chrysler is trying to get rid of their huge build up of cars quickly, so they can bring in the new models. The 09 chryslers, at least a few of them appear to have much better quality then chryslers previous cars

Every commerical I've heard about that it says the diesel and fleet vehicles are exempt from the 2.99/gal deal.

The didn't use to be. I noticed that to when I saw the commercial for it the other day, but before then every commercial that I had seen on it said gas and diesel. I knew that wouldn't last, and surprised that it had it on there in the first place.

They probably came out with the commerical long before diesel hit 4.50-5.20 a gallon.

I just looked at Dodge's website - it appears it does apply to diesel, but its only valid for the first 12,000 miles per year.

Doing some quick math 12,000 miles per year / 15 MPG = 800 gallons

Diesel prices today in Milwaukee = $4.71 - $2.99 = $1.72

$1.72 X 800 gallons = $1376 per year.

So I'm guessing they'll just hide $1376 in your sales price.

you have to pay the difference.

dodge covers the first $2.99- you are responsible for the difference in market price.

Don't forget to multiply that by 3 years.

That's not entirely how I see it. Dodge is giving you 800 gallons of fuel a year. (for a Ram, each vehicle is calculated differently) For those 800 gallons purchased in that allotment year it will cost you 2.99/gal. Every gallon purchased after that 800 gallon allotment, you're on the hook. It will then reset at the end of July for the next years allotment.

I have heard both ways (from a dodge salesman).

say if the sticker on the car says 15 city / 25 highway, then they'll allow you 480 gallons.

I'll be honest, the only investigating that I've done was when it was brought up. There might be other things that i've missed in regards to this program and how it truly works.

I did notice though that it seems that this offer is a one or the other type incentive program if you will, in that you can't combine this with any other rebates or special financing APR's that might be available from the manufacturer. "...an alternative to traditional incentive programs. Consumers who select this offer will not be eligible for the traditional consumer/lease cash, subvented APR rates" Which makes more sense in how they they are able to offer this incentive.

According to the program, it would be the avg. of the city/Hwy EPA mileage, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did in fact use the high end of the spectrum to calculate what one's allotment would be. 12000 miles at 25 mpg would put you right at 480 gallons, as you stated.

i realized i worded this the wrong way.

you pay the first $2.99 and dodge pays the difference. this is why they are no longer doing it for diesel as the price is going up way to fast- .
