I was wondering if the side mount gas tank off of a 88 F-150 will mount on a 95 F-150 4x4 and work with the same fuel pump that is in the tank off the 88? they both have the V-8 302's in them, the only reason I am asking is b/c the 95 does not have the side tank on it b/c it was removed for some reason. If any one could give me some insight on weather or not this will work it would be much appreciated. I am scrapping the 88 out this week b/c I don't need it now. The only thing I am saving from it is the head lights, mirrors, motor and tranny, and the windshield and tail lights. So if any one needs any of those parts or something else let me know before Friday morning, and if your are close enough I can get them to you.
hmm ok ty, but why does that model year (95) have 2 different types of tanks as the side tank? one was a 16 gallon and the other was a 19 gallon? Now where or how do I find out which tank goes there?
the regular cab short bed configuration used the small tanks. The 95 uses a high pressure in-tank pump with built-in switching valves, while the 88 uses a low-pressure in-tank pump without built-in switching capability.
If you could find a tank from both years, you could compare the opening in the top to see if they match. You could also go to the parts store and compare a fuel sending unit from each of those years to see if they attach the same.
