Door re-installation (hinge backing plate) ?

I am not even close to reinstalling my doors, but I have the backing plates that the doors screws go into removed. (a couple of the screws twisted of when I removed the doors)
I may have to drill the holes out larger? I was thinking about welding a nut to the backside of the plate. anyone have thought's suggestions? The door screws would need to be longer if I do this. I havent seen any of these for sale, does someone make them? what have you done to reinstall doors, or did the original threads work ok?
I want to fix these while I am replacing the front cab corners sheet metal and the front cab mounts.
thanks
Josh

I know the part you are talking about, but I'm not aware of an aftermarket source for it. There may be a member here who is willing to sell/give you some from their doors, but they are easy to repair.

The thread size is 5/16-24, a fine thread. Using an "I" drill (.318) to drill out the remnant stud should let you just chase the threads with a tap.

If you don't look forward to wrestling the doors around everytime you install them, check out my method of indexing them. Once you get them where you want, they go right back to that position everytime.

Good luck.

I think welding nuts on the back would extra work not necessary. The triangular plates are 1/4" think, there's plenty of material to drill and tap into.

You sentence is a little ambiguous, are you looking for the plates or the bolts? If you're looking for the plates they are easy enough to fab up. If you're looking for bolts they are a little hard to find. I bought a bunch from John's F-hundreds a few years back. John's F-Fun Hundreds-Home

thanks guys,
I will try to clean up the threads or re-thread them. And yes I will also need new bolts, I don't want to try to re-use the old one's and chance the threads stripping on install.
Thanks
Josh

make a pattern of where your holes are located and have the old holes welded shut and then drill and retap them.
