I actually found some NOS front clip fasteners, both the bolts and the speed nuts....I bought 30 of them...when I get the numbers of the rest of these small parts, hopefully I'll have better luck with some of these fastener suppliers...Dearborn Classics does have a ton of stuff that is likely the same (a lot of Comet stuff seems to be the same as the Ford trucks for whatever reason), but they use there own numbering system so the Ford numbers won't be of much use to them. For those of us that live in Oregon, they do have a showroom in Bend and said they could match up about anything if I brought it in....have to make an excuse to drive the 3 hours to Central Oregon to get this stuff!

Did you coat the fasteners with anything treating it with Evapo-rust? Is it something that's only available online?

With the evapo-rust I used it to remove any rust then if a part was supposed to be natural I left it natural. If it was supposed to be plated I then brought them to plater to be done. For every nut bolt and clip & brkt that was supposed to be plated it cost me under 200.00.

Items like rear springs, shackles, control arms, driveshaft, spindles, calipers & any other natural item were just put on car and look absolutely gorgeous. Sure beats the spray gray method. This stuff also cleans very very well. Larger items I bought a horse trough for springs etc, smaller I used a plastic pail or container.

There are a couple books out that will show pics of each and every bolt nut washer... Since I just started my restoration a week ago I have not really dug into it yet but as my prior comment my 66 Comet hardware a lot of it is same. I dont think I will have an issue making it work.

Most hardware like 5/16 bolts that hold on fenders, and core suport seem to be a black oxide or phosphate type finish which I will reproduce very soon after they come out of the evapo bath. They are also avail for purchase new from AMK.

I planned on posting all this info in my Project post but there does not seem to be much interest in it so may not.

Well, I'm interested, as this is the first one of these (Ford trucks) I've done...as it's been months since disassembly, I'm concerned about getting everything back (with new or restored fasteners) after my paint work is done. Good luck on yours and post pics as you go.

The real buyer is a fellow from Sweden, his father owns a well known shipping line.

Near the port of Stockholm, on a huge lot, there are prolly 5,000 shipping containers, all are full of cars, prolly 1,000 are 1963/64 Galaxies.

I've sold the guy (always thru agents) several cars and a ton of obsolete parts over the past 10 yrs or so.

How many 1960's cars (and a few trucks) does he have? 10,000 easy.

He does sell them..on occasion. Most stay in Europe, the rest go world-wide.

I have no opinion on the parts cleaners, never owned a one. I'm a scrounger par excellance, if I can't find NOS Genuine Ford Parts, I buy gypo stuff.

But not for this: My 1965 F100 was restored (frame off) using nothing but the real McCoy. There's not one part on the truck from an autoparts store, or is a reproduction.

It took 3 years of scrounging to find everything, and this was back in 1981-84.

Small world....that was exactly the guy I sold my XL to! And you are right, as I think about it, he was a Swede...wow...10,000 cars! I looked it up and that was clear back in 1983 that I sold him that car....white, turcouise on turcoise interior...everything was original and in good shape....wish I had that car now! I'm with you on NOS parts....which is why I've asked about cleaning the ones I have...
