While we are at it then which engines/years were red? I have a V8 in the '51 F3 that I believe is stock and has red paint on it.

I believe the earlier motors were green and the bronze color was on the later early '50's blocks.

either tangerine red or green for 52.
check out vanpelts website

ford truck engines were red 48-51 then green for 52, 53

Flathead Specifications: 1949-53 V8

Dupli-color's engine enamel Detroit Diesel Green (DE 1618) is almost a perfect match, most of the guys use it, and mine has held up great, getting kicked around the shop...

I had to order mine - they carry Dupli-color a lot of places, but few stock the Detroit Diesel Alpine Green - here's a link to Dupli-color's website and color:

Dupli-color Detroit Diesel Alpine Green

Best of luck!

Wheel color

Thanks for the information on the engine color, it worked great on my 53' Merc engine. Would anyone know the color of red used on the 1953 Mercury wheels?
