Is the bed of these trucks still 8ft? The only difference is the spare in the side and the wheel wells moved back?
Yes, the beds are still 8'. Along with the spare in the side and the longer wheel base, the beds also have narrower bolt spacing as the frames on these trucks are 34" front to rear like a chassis cab.
so I don't remember what truck it was. I might be wrong but I think I saw a truck the other day that had a 10ft bed and they called it a Super Camper Special. I think it was on this site.

I know that Chevy/GMC back in the late 60's/early 70's made a truck with a 9' bed. They called it a Longhorn. I've never heard of a Ford pickup with a bed longer than 8'.
Another interesting option was extra-wide 12.00 x 16.5 rear tires. GVWRs were also impressive. My 79 with the 12.00s has a 9900lb GVWR.
Do you have any good pics of the wheels? I think I may have a set, but I'm looking for some confirmation. The wheels I have seem to be about 10" or 11" wide.
A correction to the post before yours. SCSs were NOT available after 76. While the truck remained basically the same, Ford dropped the "Super" designation for the 2wd regular cab F-350 camper specials in 77. They remained just "camper specials" through the 79 model year. Starting in 80, Ford dropped the 140" wheelbase.
So were there 133" and 140" wheelbase Camper Specials '77 - '79?
