overdrive pulling

I have a 97 f250 with the 7.3 5spd. I also pull a 34' 5th wheel weighing about 12000lbs with a 2000lb pin weight, is it alright to pull in 5th gear ?

Yes....IF! If it continually 'hunts' for the right gear, leave it in 4th....wait, are you saying you have a manual tranny? If so, if it pulls okay in 5th, use it in 5th. If it bogs down, go to 4th or lower.

If it is a manual all gears are able to be used for towing, you will want to keep the truck in the power band though, around 1800rpm.
