I just got back from a trip towing a 25' TT. As I arrived at my destination, I was pulling off the pavement onto a dirt road and my prodigy flashed the PL(power interruption) code. After I stopped and shut down, it was flashing the SH code. I new it meant short, so I went through all the wiring, truck and trailer at least 3 times and could find nothing wrong. If I pushed on the brakes I would get a voltage reading and then the SH code again. If I used the lever on the prodigy, I would get a voltage level, a NC code, and then back to the SH code. As I was getting ready to crawl back home, I started the truck and stepped on the brakes, I got another PL code. I decided to unplug and reconnect the line to the brake lights real quick. The PL code was replaced by the SH code. As I started pulling out, everything suddenly went back to normal and the controller functioned flawlessly all the way home. I'm clueless as to what happened here, but am thankfull I it got me home safe. I'm not sure what else to check to try and make sure this doesn't happen again though.
Because you were pulling off of pavement onto dirt when this started, I'd suspect the TV or TT frame tweaked enough to pull on a wire that was marginal to begin with. Going back to normal when you pulled out is another clue that movement is causing this. Got enough slack in the TT's harness?
Also check your grounds....are you using just the attachment of the trailer to the truck thru the hitch point as the ground? DON'T!! Connect a wire from the trailer to the ground pin!
I did the above ground wire also since I was constantly have my "trailer disconnect" go off among other things. All I did was place a small ground wire next to my hitch with a quick-disconnect. Had to go through all my trailers and place the ground disconnect on each one.
I have plenty of slack, so i'll go ahead and add the extra ground wire. I've never had problems with my flatbed, but this was the first pull for the TT.
