that body style didt have a flare side option - but the later 92-96 is a bolt on and looks correct

Never seen one myself either - the '80-'86 ones have it, the '92-'96 as well, but those middle ones, never seen one.

I beg to differ...I distinctly remember driving an '87 stepside when I was 16 in the winter of '86-'87...I even remember it had a 300, 5-speed, 4wd, and 4.10s. Only other thing I remember is that it was black and sucked down gas. Sure wish I had that truck these days!

'87 was the only year for the stepside in that body style...

I have seen a couple of them, but that it. If I remember correctly the 87 stepside had the same bed as the previous 80s trucks and was still a stepside and not a flareside like the 92-96 trucks.

I seem to remember 87 being the only year of that range that offered a flare side option. I definitely have a picture of one in the Ford sales brochure from 87.

They did for sure make the flareside up thru 1987. The 87 fenders are unique in that they have the correct lip to match the front. You could put 87 fenders on an earlier bed if you had to.
