it wont be bad. it will just regen more. when i first got my truck the dealer told me (since i live in the middle of nowhere) if i couldnt get my hands on ulsd to put some ford diesel additive in it. youll be fine
I bought this fuel at a Mobil station by Orange County Airport, Ca (major metropolitan area) If I wasn't on empty I would have kept going. I assume because of being close the airport I paid more. I saw $5.13 and $4.93 after that.
I just don't understand why if the EPA and Gov. have all the rules and reg's about running ULSD in all 2007 and newer diesel vehicles, why don't they require fuel stations to carry it??? What's a person to do if your trying to drive across country?
heres what a friend of mine told me that knows a thing or 2 about the oil industry. "all on road diesel fuel had to be changed over to ulsd by the end of 2006" the only way you are supposed to be able to even buy regular lsd is off road. now i know i've seen a lot of older stations that still have the lsd sticker on it but i dont think it actually is, i think its all ulsd. seeing as its the same price as the newer bigger station down the road. ulsd is supposed to cost more than lsd, right? i think its just lazy people and old pumps or old stickers
It wasn't until after I was done pumping I noticed the sticker which read "NOT FOR USE IN 2007 OR LATER VEHICHLES....." I went inside and talked to the attendant asking if it really was LSD, he had to call someone to find out but replied that yes it was.
i dont see it. i guarantee its ulsd. i know its federally mandated. you find a large truckstop and read every pump. if it wasnt federally mandated to produce it youd see 2 pumps at these stations one lsd other ulsd and youd see older trucks that dont require it running lsd. have you ever seen 2 different prices for on road diesel?
ULSD is not required at all pumps until 2010 when the newer emissions laws kick in. By 2012 all diesel will be ULSD, including dyed off-road diesel.
Intermittent use of LSD in the 6.4 will not damage the motor, but if used regularly it will "poison" the DPF and it will have to be replaced, most likely not under warranty which means big $$$.

I believe at least 80% of all diesel produced now has to be ULSD. Considering big time users such as the railroads are likely buying a good portion of that remaining 20% it doesn't figure that much would be available at local retailers.
All we use is dyed "off-road" fuel, since around August 2007 we can only get dyed ULSD in my area.
I am glad to see someone else has come across this issue. I have even been to a station that had an ULSD sticker on one pump and a LSD sticker on another at the same station. Confusing. The Arco station near my house does not have either sticker. Wish they made the stations put the correctr stickers on the pumps to make it easier to figure out.
ULSD has bee required 100% at the pump in California since late 06..September 15 I think. If you bought LSD at a retail store in CA they are breaking CA law selling it.

I can still buy LSD all over the place down here, and have no chance of getting ULSD dyed diesel.
The stations are required by law to have a sticker on the pump that says what type of diesel is in it. And until Dec. 1, 2010 they can still sell it with no issues.

Yes, but I doubt a lot of it is much over the spec. June of 2006 the requirement was 80% of on-road diesel to be ULSD. They beat that by 5% and were somewhere around 90% by January 2007.
Off-road is another story, they aren't required to start the changeover until 2010...except in California.
In California, all diesel...on-road and off...was required to be ULSD by 1 January 2007.
