After searching for over 4 months we finally found our Explorer. The price was right and it has all the options that we were looking for. It is a 2007 Eddie Bauer. Looks awesome and we can't wait for it to get here.
We found it in Cleveland actually. I like to buy local but the price difference was just too far apart. Should be on a truck soon and delivered in the next few days.
It has about 20K miles on it. We got it for $18,500 and it is only $1000 bucks to ship. I think it is a good deal since comparable trucks up here are $25-$31K. We test drove alot of vehicles and we really liked these ones. Plus it has memory seats as well as adjustable pedals for my wife so she is really happy.
Preppy, it has been pretty easy so far. The dealer faxes a copy of the title to the border crossing of your choice. This has to be done at least 72 hours before the vehicle can cross. When you report to us customs with the vehicle they clear the title for export then you can proceed to the Canadian side. There you fill out Form 1 for importing a vehicle. You must have the title, a letter of recall stating there is no work to be done to the vehicle, and have a bill of sale. you pay gst, a/c tax, and a RIV fee of $210. you can then bring the vehicle in and drive with a temp licence until the vehicle is inspected. I will let you know more as I go and experience everything but everything has gone smooth so far. (Knocks on wood)
Yeah, it's been good so far. riv.ca is a good site for all the info you need. it also helps if the dealer you are dealing with has done it before. my guy has been awesome.
we've been looking for a long time and almost bought one in Moose Jaw. They told us it came from the states so we started to look into it ourselves. Just by looking on ebay and dealership sites. We found this one listed on ebay and it was actually a dealership selling it so we phoned a few times and decided that the price was right and it is still under factory warranty. I can't wait for it to get here. It's almost like being a kid a Christmas time.
hopefully sometime next week. Just waiting for it to clear title and then she will be on the road. It just sucks that it is a log weekend in the states so that will set things back a bit. The day will be sweet when I can finally drive her home.
