Thats something I've always wanted, a old Ford tractor with a flattie, lol. I see the Funk kits around from time to time on Ebay and other places. To me, they just look timeless.
I have a couple catalogs around here with flathead HP parts in it. When I find it I will post some addresses and phone #'s. Another mod that helped a lot was to relieve the top of each cylinder between the top of cyl and valve area. Couldn't take material out from under valve, but below valves could be ground out to provide a "deeper" path for air flow. Also could not grind lower than top ring at top of piston stroke, for obvious reasons, but quite possibly there may not have been enough material here either to get into trouble. This and other tricks were a few things my father would do to his dirt track flatheads to make 'em smoke the 283 chevy's. Unfortunately, he passed on before he and I could collaborate on a good stout flathead project. If I ever knew half of what he forgot, I would feel blessed. One of these days there will be a flathead powered "something" in the dooryard, just to have in memory of my father. He did leave me with a good supply of cores to start building with, so It will happen. Keep buildin' those flatty's.
Suppliers for flathead "stuff.--Fuel injection-FuelInjection Engineering, 26641 Cabot Rd, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. Information compiled and printed in Australia. This guy keeps a race car and a street rod built, maintained, and makes improvements regularly on these two cars. Claims he has a company working on SOHC heads for a flatty, supposed to be ready according to the 1998 edition, that these heads will be ready around mid '99. Also don't forget the guys at Cornhusker Rod and Custom in NE as a supplier. I hope this can get some of you going in the right direction. Good luck......
My Dad drove 2 '50 fords for over 25 years. He went through 2 or 3 motors and put about 300,000-500,000 each on 2 diffent cars.
He had a 125 mile round trip commute everyday.

Yes they are being remade. Look in Hemmings under Ardun Conversions.. The originals were the brainchild of Zora Arkus Duntov and were used to raise the power in commercial vehicles. By the way thats the same Zora Arkus Duntov who headed the Corvette development.
