I recently found and bought a DNE2 overdrive unit off of an 85 f250 at the local scrape yard. The unit came off of a fourspeed. I have been doing a little research but have not found anyone running these units behind a 5 speed tranny. Is anyone running one of these units behind a 5 speed with four wheel drive?
Doug Nash Overdrive. I believe they went out of business or were bought out by US Gear. I suggest that you contact US Gear, they may be able to tell you more.
Ive seen the units behind c6's and 4 speeds, but never behind 4x4's and 5 speeds. I was just wondering if anybody had ever run this setup. Guess i'll give the company a call on Tues. I might be interested in selling the unit, just have to see what happens.
The US gear overdrive is a monster.
You have to bend the floor pans, move the transfer case cross member back, lengthen the front drive shaft, shorten the rear driveshaft.
The only plus is it works in all gears and in 4x4 since it is mounted between the tranny and transfer case.
Also they make both under drive and over drive units.
I have never seen a Doug Nash unit, and I don't know how much they are like the US Gear units.
I would have to wonder if they made both an under drive and an over drive unit though.
