Banks Turbo....
1. Banks only lists these turbos till 93 and mine is a 94 NA will it fit? Does it matter what bodystyle the pickup is...mine is long bed CC.....(yes its an IDI, in my sig)
2. Are there any parts that are prone to breaking that I should inspect before buying? Besides the tirbine/bearing itself....
3. My pickup has 175,000 miles on it right now. Should I be concerned?
4. From what I have read so far it seems the biggest concern is the body seam that needs to be bent. Are there any other hickups that I should know about?
5. I have never messed with a turbo before. Is this going to be an 'easy' or difficult install?
Those are what I can think of off hand....any other heads up stuff is welcomed...
Thanks
Thad
2. I would just make sure you get everthing you can off of it. Even the little glow plug bracket because you will have to relocate it. Also make sure you get the exhaust down pipe because makeing one yourself would be kinda hard. Also make sure you get the boost and pyro meters. You Definatly want to know what your egts are and your boost.
3. My truck had 183,000 when I put it on and I wasn't concerned. It will suposibly lower your egts when it is installed and fuel is set right which which Is a good thing when towing a trailer.
4. You right. That down pipe exhast tube and turbo stand can be a BEAR to get in. Takes a little work to make it all fit. NOTHING to destructive.
5. I would say it was a mildly difficult install cause I could not get the turbo to fit between the cab and engine and make my exhast pipe and turbo stand fit. Finly got it after a coupple hours though. Alot of it is alingment to make it all fit. Get it all set up before you tighten your turbo pedistal bolts at the manifolds and turbo itself.
If you have any trouble, let us know. I can type up a small list of part you need to pull of the old truck but I got to run now. Good luck.
