There is definitely a lot going on in our society these days, and it is boiling over on every forum... especially forums that involve things that use gasoline. There are a lot of things that we can try to place the blame on; administrations, countries, etc... too bad more energy goes into blaming than finding a solution.

I honestly liked this article... I'm sure that there may be some sway in this, but it provokes thought into many alternatives.

That article is interesting. The solution to high prices is definitely more supply of our own oil, whether it is thru biofuels or traditional oil. Congress uses the excuse that more supply takes years to make an impact, but that is what has happened. We have blocked all the new domestic oil drilling and it has taken a while to feel the impact. Just sitting in DC looking for a short term solution is a waste if we dont try to get a plan to increase our own supply. I think the solution is both bio and oil, but for some reason the money from the far left has kept domestic oil exploration at a stop. The longer we keep blaming big oil and Bush for high gas prices the higher they will go. It is a market driven price, it isnt Bush and his buddies getting rich off the high prices. It's the OPEC members. The oil companies in the US are making record profits, but they are also making alot of investments. Since when has it been a crime to make a return on your investment! Besides a lot of people are making money of the stocks of oil companies. If the gov would let them go after more oil domestically they could invest more in the US instead of the rest of the world that does let them explore for oil.

I still say drill on our own land, put our country first!!! It is like the Government would like yo see us on a horse and buggy again. I do remember Bush trying to push an energy bill to drill, and both Dem and Rep voted it down!!!!! Lets not blame everything on Bush.

The other 3 canidates scare the hell out of me, I am for recycling ect, but these clowns would love to see our Excursions off the road!!! That is something I will not RECYCLE.

well there is only a few solutions and im only game for one!! we can buy those little 1 or 2 seat golf carts in a bubble like eurpope and crush our x's for scrap, we can change from fuel to electric, (which would put gas stations out, and seein as though our x needs a gas station every quarter mile, again it renders our x useless) or we can wake up and believe what im sayin and realize we are (or where) the STRONGEST FRIGGEN COUNTRY!! werent we once concidered world leaders?? FIX THE DAMN PROBLEM!!! tell thease gready freaks what were gonna pay, not ask them what they want us to pay, or drill in alaska! alaska has enough damn oil for 100 years!! within the next 100 years im sure we can gradually correct the issue, but atleast we will be paying reasonable friggen fuel prices in the mean time!!!

AND ABOUT BUSH!!! i dont want to argue with anyone on here, were all ford lovers and i love you all but COME ON!!! BUSH IS BORDER LINE RETARDED!! he sucks, he WILL go down as the worst damn predident! AND I DO BLAME HIM!! ARE YOU KIDDING!!! everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but listen i liked bush at first but come on!! look at the facts!

YouTube - President Bush -- Fool me Once

WATCH THAT VIDEO!! THE ENTIRE THING, you have to see the end its great! watch that and tell me you are glad he represents AMERICA!!!!

Back to the original topic...

The V-10 prices are truly tanking; the diesel prices have yet to really drop below the $14k mark, though, and the rare ones that do tend to be higher-mileage (200k mi+) or 2wd.

No refineries built in US since 1972! If you have the oil we can't even turn it into fuel. Thanks Sierra Club, Kennedys, and Al Gore for helping prevent us from destroying our environment and having to become dependent on foreign oil!`

I'm going to try and do some crappie fishing this holiday weekend...we'll see if $4 PLUS per gallon marina fuel slows down the boating public...mostly the lake fleas (jet skis) any...I'll let you know but I'm not expecting to actually be able to fish with ALL the boats/fleas out there as is usual on a holiday weekend...

I thought I'd see a drop in boat traffic LAST YEAR with the prices...but none was noticed...apparently our love of toyz far outweighs many a folks pocket depth...

On the Ex...If I didn't tug around a home on wheels...personally I would not own an Ex...sorry...it is NOT a fuel efficient vehicle nor a commuter vehicle IMO...it IS however an EXCELLENT TOW VEHICLE...

America's lust for speed and power over all the years of relatively low priced fuel has created the situation we are in right now that we NEED this fuel at darn near any price...

It's easy to blame one party or the other...but let's look within...it is AMERICA'S LUST that has gotten us here...we all need to pony up to that bar...the oil companies owe us NOTHING...they are a free market company simply making a profit...that's what hurts...they have the commodity and we want it...right now at more than we may be willing to pay...it is no different than any other commodity...

The Ex like other SUV's will suffer from the higher fuel prices...some dealers in my area are REFUSING SUV trade-ins!!!...the Ex is simply the biggest and easiest target...

This too 'may' pass...

All I know is I'm gonna pump my economic stimulus check back into the oil companies ledgers on my 4000 mile Grand Canyon trip thru my fuel tank...~500 gallons at you pick the per gallon price...I'm doing my part to stimulate something!

Seriously...my kids formed memories are more important to me than the insignificant raise this year over last this trip will cost versus the memories my kids will have for their LIVES...

Life's short...no need to complain...

Okay my $0.02 over...

I just got a call from my mom's wholesaler that an 05 X 6.0 4x4 Black Eddie Bauer with 47,000 was at the auction. He said it books at $26,000 and we told him the max i would pay was $20,000. Heres hoping he gets it for less!!! Anyway I look at it, I am saving payment and gas wise. My Expy EL cost me $653 a month (lease) and gets 11.5mpg. The X would cost me $390 a month to buy and probably cost the same in gas a month!!!

Drilling in Alaska

Hello to everyone! I have been reading posts on the forum for sometime but until reading the discussion of dropping x prices and drilling in AK I had not signed up.

I have lived in Alaska all my life and I value this place like one of my children. But the real truth is environmentalists have created such a propaganda war that very few people know the real truth to resource development up here. ANWR contains a huge amount of oil, in fact the estimates keep going up and rival or even surpass Prudoe Bay. This region of Alaska is devoid of just about anything but muskeg (stinking moss and foul water) sitting above permately frozen ground. The environmentalists have been able to block drilling here because they claim the Porcupine Caribou would be destroyed. The truth is that other Caribou have thrived due to the Alyeska Pipeline because it gives them a roadway to travel that is much easier than what they had to cross previously. Also to tap oil resources very little damage is done to a very small portion of land and ANWR is millions of acres. The tree huggers are smart though by naming it the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge people who have never been here envision a wide expanse of beautiful land. Trust me it is not.

Even worse is that the National Petroleum Reserve which is very close to ANWR and also desolate has been blocked by Environmentalists who tie up the state, and oil companies in lawsuits using animals as their rallying cry.

Just recently the environmentalists filed lawsuit against the Federal Govt. for causing the Polar Bears to be "threatened" because of greenhouse gas emissions. First this tag of "threatened" means their numbers have not fallen, but because of melting sea ice, they could. Don't be fooled, the environmentalists did not care anything about the polar bears until they learned Shell Oil was trying to drill for oil in the Chukchi Sea (the sea to the North of Alaska).

Alaska also has the largest projected deposits of gold in the World and an effort called the Pebble Mine would mean trillions for our country, but already the environmentalists have begun to derail the project saying it would destroy salmon spawning grounds. The project has not even received permits and the studies are not in, but somehow the greenies know this project could not be done without killing the salmon and they've already started their media campaign.

If you want to blame President Bush for high gas prices, that is your perogative, but I know first-hand it is the left-wing tree huggers that have begun to destroy our economy and risk our security! We wouldn't need to be comfy with the Saudis if we were allowed to develope our own resources.
By the way I have a 2005 Excursion, Eddie Bauer, with Airaid cold intake, Hypertech programmer, 2004 Outback travel trailer.
