Gage Cluster Removal
Does anyone have experience or directions for pulling the gage cluster on a 2004 Epedition? I need to access the gear shift indicator slider. This is a spin off of the thread I started for that problem.

first remove the two 7mm bolts above the instrument cluster and remove the plastic that goes all the way to the stereo, its all one piece...move gear selector all the way down to help with clearance and remove wiring as you go...this should reveal more bolts holding the instrument panel...

You were kind enough to post this in my other thread. The sections that don't seem to work out are the selector switch for 2wd, AWD, 4H and 4L as well as the message center buttons (it is an EB). The surround is different and there seems to be different cosmetic panels that might be covering screws in other positions. I only have 2 hours windows on the weekends to do this (along with whatever else I've got to do) so I was hoping to take as much guess work out before hand to maximize my efforts.

I have an 05' xlt no message center, but the 4x4 selector or light switch was not removed like in the pictures provided by madsonp, when I did mine I struggled some but unplugged the wiring to fully remove the panel...
